Tom Day

Men's Captain

Tom was born in Minnesota, a hotbed for Curling in the US. Tom didn’t take to the ice right away, he spent his time on the Mats, Diamond, and Field. He excelled in Wrestling, Baseball, and Soccer, at Armstrong High School, a suburb of Minneapolis. Earning All State honors in Wrestling. 

In 2008, Tom took the leap and bought a one way ticket to the Virgin Islands. Trained as an architect at the University of Arizona , Tom is a master bartender, gaining worldwide acclaim on travel sites like TripAdvisor. 

An accomplished Beach Tennis Player, Tom has made the conversion to Ice Curling. A natural on “The Sheets”, Tom brings a competitive focus and a calm presence to the ice. Although new to the Curling Scene, Tom possesses the Skill set and Desire to excel. Help Tom get to the Olympics, and climb on that stage as an Olympian. Melissa Tait

Women's Captain

Growing up in Lake County, IL, Melissa was always actively involved in a variety of sports – a passion that ultimately paved her path to a career in physical therapy. In 2011, she expanded her athletic repertoire by taking up curling in Racine, WI. Melissa's curling resume boasts participation in numerous events, including the All-American Bonspiels, USWCA Bonspiels, March Hare, and several Schmecken Spiels in Madison, WI. She also achieved consistent success in Racine league play in mixed and doubles, securing first and second place in various events from 2015-2019.

A new chapter began in 2021 when Melissa moved to the US Virgin Islands. She joined the USVI Curling team in 2024, competing in Charlotte, NC and Leadville, CO. Melissa is enthusiastic about the continued development and future of the US Virgin Islands Curing Team.
